The mission of A-TWIST MURI is to advance both theoretical and experimental understanding of the functional properties that emerge in twisted three-dimensional (3D/3D) oxide bicrystals. Our efforts center on developing new synthesis methods to create near-perfect, atomically precise oxide membranes and their twisted 3D/3D bicrystals. These approaches will enable exceptional control over crystal orientation, interface and surface reconstructions, stacking termination, and twist angle — laying the foundation for uncovering novel physical phenomena and transformative functionalities in complex oxides.
